Delaware Frees Siblings to Marry!

Marriage Equality Update:
Rehoboth Beach, Delaware is leading the charge for civil unions (e.g. marriage) if not for civil rights. Enlightenment has struck the east coast!
Rehoboth Beach city council is set to pass an ordinance to allow same-sex couples to marry, even immediate family members! Mayor Samuel Cooper said he won’t veto the new law.
SB-U812 is to go into effect October 1, 2014. Unlikely intervention from federal or state officials mean another beach front in the ongoing culture war. The victory of reason over religion, of sanity over superstition inches ever closer.

This is an addendum to my previous post. I received quite vitriolic responses in gmail to ‘Power to the PEOPLE’. Some thought I was being melodramatic while others accused me of conspiracy mongering.
Honestly, I have no problem with individuals removing themselves from the gene pool. Whether directly or indirectly, their posthumously earned “Darwin Award” is reward to all of humanity. Indeed, our only regret should be that a few of managed to procreate prior to their personal extinction. Passing on a proclivity for violence, stupidity, or willful ignorance should be considered a ‘crime against humanity’!
However, moderating interpersonal exchanges is not a modus operandi for our youth as it should be, instilled by parents no less. Any law enforcement officer knows it is his training & duty that requires just such a practice. Emptying half of a gun’s magazine into an assailant is ridiculously far from moderate
Anyone in authority has a solemn duty to act with restraint & judicious caution. Alas, with the untimely demise of Michael Brown, those qualities were sorely lacking. Such officers should be psychologically screened before being given a toy gun!
The last thing we all need is for a ‘ Barney Fife ‘ to be wielding deadly force for it increasingly often is.

Power to the PEOPLE

Government can be domestic

The events playing out in Ferguson, Missouri are not random, isolated, nor new. The progression should be predictable by now. Alas, “teacher” salaries & statist propaganda are more important than schools & education. Please pardon an aside as I believe it is crucial to understand the context.
Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Yet, how can we learn when our schools spend most on middle management than on classroom instructors. American screw-alls (schools) are outranked by 15 other nations while expending more than all of them per student …combined !
Government restricts the rights of people for its own good. Most often to the point of violation. The violations become the rule rather than than the exception. Unjust actions are justified by a government’s legal code. If that code makes recourse negligible (impossible), then it makes revolution eligible (inevitable).
People must insist on their rights apart from government for the good of both it & themselves. The success of the government yields  dispossession & oppression. The success of the people leads to resolution or revolution, whichever comes first.
Ignorance speeds over-regulation.
Over-regulation cedes to tyranny.
Tyranny breeds fear.
Fear feeds resentment.
Resentment leads to anger.
Anger seeds rebellion.
Are we there yet? This conflict is as old as ancient Greece. If the powerful seize your bread & butter, then will it leave you dead or any better?!
Perhaps Michael Brown’s reaction to the officer were irrational. Fear can do that. However, a police officer’s 1st duty is to diffuse & expedite closure and not infuse & escalate an interaction. You don’t check the contents of a gas cannister with a match.
Here is an admission of a former presidential candidate:
“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did, and it never will.
Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them. These will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.” — Frederick Douglass,
August 4, 1857

Rand Paul is Correct

Our governments’ response to terrorists:
If you can’t beat them, join them (e.g. act like them). There’s nothing like visceral, servile fear to quell a public that’s angered by their abuse at the hands of their own government.
Militarization of police is a precaution to massive uprisings (if not revolution) that current policies inevitably engender. These aren’t my thoughts

Insistence Upon Persistence

This was originally a response to seemingly disheartened sociologist/historian. Yet, I believe it could apply to many others. Also, a segueway could bloody well be construed from my last post. To wit:
Multiculturalism run a muck is the reason. Barbaric, misogynistic, homophobic  cultures like Islam vehemently deny the worth of anything out of step with sharia or e.g. as prescribed in the quran or hadiths. Art, math, science are only tolerated as far as they don’t conflict with Islamic ideology. This has been a trend in western society as multicultural dogma has gained ascent in the last 30 years.
Your work is invaluable to future generations. The tide will turn. Copernicus fought his battles. It’s your turn now. Future historians are counting on you. If not you, then who? If not now, then when?
Your candle will become a lantern for our children. That lantern will become a beacon for theirs and lighthouse for yet their children.
Persistence & tenacity are the order for today. We shan’t allow our heritage to succumb to political whim or superstitious ideology.”

Robin Remembered

Robin Williams has died in art (a movie). Recently, he died in real life. More often than not, art imitates life. Was it vaguely prophetic or ironic in his case?

(PLEASE Note: I lean agnostic on nonscientific speculation. Your guess is as good as mine. This is just a mythological extrapolation of ideas borne out in one of Mr. Williams’ cinematic portrayals.)

What I wish were true
What I wish were true

In “WHAT DREAMS MAY COME” (1998), he left heaven to rescue his wife. His wife had plunged herself into hell. She was so distraught over the loss of her family that she committed suicide.
It was her mental state that sealed her fate. Upon death, Annie’s mind (soul) literally created a hellish world. A vicious cycle of gloom & doom – having been internal – became an external, altered reality.
How strange it is then, that a man, who lived to bring mirth to others, embraced death – only bringing misery for himself into whatever lies beyond.
How harrowing it might well be for such a dear man if, in fact, life imitates art.
If you can’t forgive yourself, if you can’t love yourself, then not even a God can or will change your mind. Thus, it grieves me that a great person should settle for so much less.
He attempted to win by losing his pain. Yet, as he so famously said in the aforementioned movie: “Sometimes when you win, you lose“.
A part of our hearts was lost with Robin Williams. He is loved & will be missed. If only he knew.
Don’t miss the opportunity to tell those whom you love that you do. Carpe Diem…Seize the moment! For it shan’t come again.
